Stupid repeat trouble call
Nothing fancy; but was a repeat that I hope I squashed. Oil field line fed by a 2 pot corner grounded 480 - 2 10kva's. I get there and fuse is melted out on one of the pots. Isolated at the meter socket and checked voltage. Decided to pop open customer disconnect found 3 100 amp fuses on their side.
I'm not a scientist but it my eyes that's pretty much like having a solid blade in there...little over fused just a tad. Think they have some wire down at the end of their line.
Sucks working a stick in the wind in the dark with not a soul around.

A lot of things SUCKS in this trade Dallas. I gave up the Power company in 1972. I worked mostly Hard Contract Highline and never lost the company money.rcdallas wrote:Nothing fancy; but was a repeat that I hope I squashed. Then we all get old and crippled and we take up Distribution and underground to make 50 hours. Storm would come in and WESTAR would hold us over for trouble. customer called twice for smoke alarm going off. I told
to check other customer problems that Electrical wasn't the problem. I got called down for costumer relations. Two days later customers house burnede down due to dryer fire. HEE HEE HEEE!!!
Re: Stupid repeat trouble call
Yeah I'm still learning you have to definitely have to watch what you say to a customer big time. Anything you say can and will be used against you. I don't even like telling a customer to go flip their breakers as if something we're to go wrong and they get hurt they'll say I told them to do it.
When I see a customer energizing a 480 disconnect...sometimes I just get sick
