New Jersey Transmission work
The first project is a 238kv/500kv transmission build, 43 miles in length. Job duration is 18 to 24 months. Most of this is lattice. We’ll need at least 10 lattice crews of 9 men each. There will also, of course, be erection and stringing.
The 456 rate for linemen is $43.17, with a total package of $72.09. The men will be working 6 tens and we’ll be paying $75.00 subsistence (per diem) a day.
The contractor is Henkels & McCoy and I have heard the subsistence pay may even be more now.
There has been talk that the Iron workers are going to ty and do this work if the IBEW does not come up with manpower, we have enough manpower as there is unemployment but appears the unemployed are still sitting pretty good from all the storm work. If anyone can help with manpower it would be great, even if you have a non-union person of interest.
